The "EMPATHY” is a KA1 youth exchange project aimed at raising awareness among young people about the importance of mental health, promoting a culture of empathy, solidarity, and understanding among them. In a global context where youth mental health issues are on the rise—particularly due to factors like social and academic pressure, cyberbullying, social media, and the consequences of the pandemic—it is crucial to create spaces where they can express their emotions without fear of stigma. Through this project, we aim to provide the necessary tools to manage emotions and develop resilience strategies to face every day emotional challenges. The initiative offers a safe and open environment where participants can share their experiences and struggles, feel understood and supported, and learn from their peers. One of the key objectives of the project is to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. Often, young people feel ashamed or afraid to express their emotions due to fear of judgment or rejection. This project seeks to challenge those social barriers by creating a space where emotional challenges can be discussed freely without fear of stigma. We aim to promote the idea that sharing vulnerabilities and seeking help is not only valid but also an act of courage and strength.
Objectives:
• Promote the well-being of young people through the acquisition of key life skills for personal, social, and professional growth.
• Provide practical tools such as emotional communication, conflict resolution, and self-care.
• Strengthen participants’ ability to manage difficult situations and improve their interpersonal relationships.
• Address the risks associated with excessive social media use, cyberbullying, and body image pressure.
• Offer strategies to help young people set healthy boundaries with technology.
• Promote a balanced relationship with the digital world and foster the development of positive self-esteem.
• Encourage young people to feel part of a common project that addresses mental health from both an individual and collective perspective.
• Promote values of solidarity, inclusion, and cooperation among participants.
• Foster the creation of a network of aware, active young people committed to contributing positively to society.
