Critical Thinking Workshop
as a support and protection tool for young people againts the effects of hate speech and fake news
The main goal of the project is to equip youth workers with the ability to use critical thinking resources in order to support young people in consciously handling, processing, recognizing and reading information such as hate speech, fake news, populist and radical content and the ability to distinguish facts from opinions.
The project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme under the Key Action 2 Youth call. CTW started on the 1st of February 2022 and will run for 18 months until July 2023.
Project Objectives:
Develop international partnerships in youth work,
Exchange of good practices, experiences and methods of working with young people on the implemented topic,
Improve the key competences of youth workers,
Increase the quality of youth work,
Exchange of information between partners about new risks for young people as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic
Discuss future partnerships in supporting young people affected by the consequences of the pandemic
Raise awareness among young people on how to handle (read) information.
Project Outputs:
Internet platform with e-learning course
Workshop scenarios for young people
Training workshops for young people according to the developed scenarios
Conference about the e-learning platform and workshop scenarios
The platform will consist of 3 modules of different levels of difficulty (1 module is to be designed for youth workers that work with teenagers from elementary school, the second for youth workers that work with pupils from secondary school and the third for youth workers of student age). Each module is to cover the following topics: hate speech, populism and radical content, and fake news.
After the creation of the modules the partners have to work out the scenarios of the activities aimed at youngsters based on the content of the modules. There will be 10 workshop scenarios in total (3-4 for each module).
The participants of the training workshops will be 4 young people and 1 youth worker from each country (20 people in total). The workshop will last 5 days (activities only) and will be based on developed scenarios).
The conference will take place in Poland. The participants will be 12 persons from abroad representing the partners (4 persons per foreign partner) and 50 persons from the local community in Poland invited to the training and 100 persons online watching the live broadcast.
