Convo

The aim is for young people to fully immerse themselves in each other's world and to learn from and about each other in this way. On the one hand, we hope that this project will contribute to inclusion and bring together different population groups. The students will really meet each other and discover each other's world. This could eliminate possible prejudices. On the other hand, we hope that the young people will also be able to exchange knowledge and experiences with each other on a professional level. "What is the approach in the other country?", "How do they work?", etc.

Making a documentary that explores cultural differences/parallels, in cooperation with a group of young people from another European country (Hungary). During this process, the young people immerse themselves completely in each other's world. Activities are also planned in the city to get to know the host country as well as possible. The participants would be around twenty, ten young people from Ghent, ten young people from Budapest. The target group are young girls and women interested in the film world. Therefore, they do not necessarily have to be film students, but they are expected to have some notions of the film world, as the young people will work on the project almost entirely autonomously.

We hope to teach the participants something about the culture and the film techniques of the other country. In this way, we expect them to have a realistic and up-to-date picture of what is going on in the other country, both in everyday life and in the film industry. We also hope that they will learn from each other and the techniques used will perhaps also be implemented in their own productions/projects.

We hope that the impact on a personal level will contribute to self-reflection on the opinion of the participants about the other group, on the one hand before they got to know them and on the other hand afterwards. Has their perception of each other changed? And if so, how did that happen?
