Migtan

The main theme of the MIGTRAN project is: Migration-borne diseases. The sub-themes of this project are:

i) Protection against infectious diseases,

ii) taking precautions

iii) and the importance of controls for early diagnosis.

In this context, migration has not only contributed to the spread of diseases to other geographical areas, but has also led to changes in the immune system of the local inhabitants. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of refugees arriving in Europe, particularly from Middle Eastern and African countries. With this increase, there are changes in the epidemiological pattern of infectious diseases observed in Europe. 1.5 million refugees or migrants under the age of 29 have settled in various EU countries. A comprehensive EU survey shows that the EU population has insufficient knowledge about migration and infectious diseases. This underlines the importance of our project. The importance of infectious diseases is proportional to the damage they can cause to society. One way to minimise this damage is to raise public awareness. The development and progress of Europe depends on the productivity of people and therefore on their health. In this respect, it is particularly important that our young people, who are the workforce of tomorrow, are made aware of infectious diseases. 

Due to the importance of the topic, the MIGTRAN project was prepared under the coordination of France in partnership with Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Turkey and Spain. The target groups of this project are mainly young people who are the future of Europe. Health is the beginning of everything, in this project the focus will be on infectious diseases, one of the nightmares of our time. Information about these diseases and their link to migration, means of prevention and the psychology of people suffering from these diseases will be covered in this project. People with a history of illness, migrants, patients, people undergoing treatment, relatives of patients are among the target group of this project. In addition, NGOs, youth centres, municipalities, universities, non-official groups and the public are among the target groups that support active citizenship, healthy living, sports, participation of disadvantaged people in life and similar social issues. 

48 young people from 6 countries, 12 facilitators and 2 facilitators will participate in this event in France. As part of the project, the young participants will be provided with information on how infectious diseases, which are remembered again in times of pandemic, spread, how they occur, what the symptoms of these infectious diseases are and how to protect oneself from them, and they will share their experiences with other young people. In addition, activities will be carried out to raise awareness and sensitise young people to prevent the physical and psychological damage that can occur as a result of diseases that can be transmitted by migration. In this way, the young participants will become aware of the importance of infectious diseases related to migration.
