The fight of a Generation

Environmental Action

The aim of THE FIGHT OF A GENERATION youth exchange was to gather young people who want to make a change in their countries and their communities by joining efforts and ideas from different realities and addressing global environmental issues together.

During 10 days, young people from six different countries, Greece, Hungary, Estonia, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, gathered in Chaves, in the isolated hill region of the north of Portugal to participate in sessions and activities in the local community, connecting with the local population.

The participants shared ideas, created plans, and developed their capacity to make things happen in their town. They used and learned intervention tools to be changemakers in their communities. They also prepared the ground for the valorization of the nature and ecology of their regions and found support in each other for all their future actions and interventions.

Participants' Testimonies

“It was my first youth exchange, so I didn't know what to expect, but luckily I was part of a great team for 2 weeks. Switching to English was a bit of a challenge at the beginning, but I overcame my fears and tried to enjoy the time left. Having learned from my mistakes and the positive things I did, I would like to participate in similar programs in the near future where I can meet more people and learn a lot of new things.” Balázs Angyal

“It was my first Erasmus project and I can say for sure; it was memorable.

I applied because I've never been in Portugal before and the environmental topic is something I care about, I felt it could be a nice opportunity to expand my knowledge about this topic in an international environment.

It was intense; socially and program wise, but worth it. It was nice to get to know other countries' best practices, got a small picture of their daily actions. Moreover, we got to know Chaves well, in this environmental perspective too. For me the best experience was when we actually did something for this town and nature as a team: we collected 4 tons of garbage in the forest!

I'm happy to get to know many interesting people, I'm sure I'll see some of them later in the future. :)

I warmly recommend for my friends to go on projects like this if they have time and find something they are interested in; socially and culturally it is really something to experience!” Fanni Zsákai

“I wondered what it would be like to experience life in a completely new environment, in a place far from home and very different from my own. I was also interested in the topic of training.

I was able to travel around Portugal's cities, big and small, make new friends and learn a lot about myself.”
