After months of preparation, courage, and a desire to contribute to something meaningful, I had the privilege of participating in a volunteering project in Leipzig, Germany through the European Solidarity Corps.
During my volunteering experience, I worked at the Buchkindergarten, a unique and inspiring kindergarten where creativity and storytelling are at the heart of children's learning. My role involved supporting educators, assisting with daily routines, participating in pedagogical activities, and helping children aged 1–3 express their imagination through stories, paintings, and handmade books.
This experience taught me far more than I expected. Every day was an opportunity to develop patience, responsibility, adaptability, and intercultural communication. Working closely with children, educators, volunteers, and members of the local community allowed me to better understand the importance of empathy, teamwork, and active citizenship.
Living independently in Germany was also a transformative journey. It challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, navigate a new culture, learn from different perspectives, and become more confident in my abilities. Through everyday interactions, cultural exchanges, and community activities, I gained a deeper appreciation for diversity and the values that connect people across borders.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my service was witnessing the creativity and curiosity of young children. Supporting them as they transformed their ideas into stories and books reminded me that learning begins with imagination and that even small contributions can have a lasting impact.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who made this experience possible: my hosting organization in Leipzig, my sending organization in Hungary, the educators and colleagues who welcomed me warmly, and the friends I met along the way. Their support, guidance, and kindness made Germany feel like a second home.
As I reflect on this chapter, I realize that volunteering is not only about giving; it is also about learning, growing, and becoming a more responsible and engaged member of society. This experience strengthened my belief in solidarity, lifelong learning, and the power of human connection.

The organization wants to promote the development and unfolding of children's personalities. A central concern is to support those children, young people and families in particular who find themselves in difficult life situations.
